Gaining an aggie education

Creating her legacy

Mary Nguyen ’09 is a sophomore finance major who has her hands in everything she can get involved in. A child of Vietnamese immigrants, she speaks fluent Vietnamese at home and at Texas A&M is social chair for the Vietnamese American Student Association, small group leader for Asian American InterVarsity (a national Christian Fellowship), and an active member of national honor society Phi Eta Sigma. She somehow finds time to hold weekly reviews as a supplemental instruction leader for a political science course this spring. “I have put a lot on my plate, but it was my decision to push myself and take on as much opportunities as I can before I graduate,” she says. “I want to leave a legacy here and make my mark for others to follow."

From top to bottom: Nguyen grabs a photo at the corner of University Drive and College Main from her seat on the A&M shuttle bus; showing her study nook at home; with study partners cramming for a test on campus; walking to class near the Fish Pond and Sbisa dining hall.
