Gaining an aggie education

Running with the Corps

Eddie Lee Felder III ’10, a freshman business major, will tell you he’s the proudest member of the Corps of Cadets’ Air Force Squadron 3, or “Thunderbird 3.” Like all Corps fish before him, most of Felder’s days start with physical training at 5:30 a.m. and end with more training at 6 p.m. It’s been a change for Felder, who was home schooled and grew up on bases in San Antonio, Greece, Washington, D.C., and the Mississippi Gulf Coast as the child of an Aggie Class of 1983 Air Force man. The oldest in a large family, Felder takes time with his family seriously: among the photos he sent us was a nice shot with his brothers and sisters at Church of the Nazarene in Bryan. Overall, he says, “it’s a rich experience, and I wouldn’t trade being a Corps member for anything else in the world.”

From top to bottom: Felder runs with members of Thunderbird 3 on the quad; with his siblings and friends at church on Sunday; pushing for the best effort during training; with Thunderbird 3 one morning.
