- 1940s -

7.04 Arthur David "Dave" Alsobrook '40, BBA in accounting, served in the U.S. Army from January 1942 to 1946. He then began a 35-year employment with Humble Oil (now ExxonMobil). Alsobrook remained in the Air Force Reserve program for a total of 30 years of service, retiring in 1975 as a full colonel.

7.05 Edgar J. Butscher '40, MBA, is now 86 and a retired career naval officer. He is also retired as comptroller of Texas Instruments and is currently president of E-Z Financial Services, Inc.

5.05 A.W. “Head” Davis, Jr. '45, BBA in general business, died Jan. 13, 2005, at the age of 80. Davis earned a BBA in general business from Mays in 1948 and received his law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1950. In 1963, he founded Bryan-based Davis & Davis Attorneys at Law and served as managing partner there until his death. Davis was heavily involved in the Aggie and Bryan-College Station communities. He served the Association of Former Students at various times as a former member of its board of directors and as a president. Davis is survived by his wife Genita, son Fred Davis '71, daughter Leah Davis Rush '74 and three grandchildren.

7.05 Clifton J. Bolner '49, BBA, Mays Outstanding Alumni Award winner in 2004, has three Aggie grandchildren. They are: Jeffrey “Mike” Bolner '04, a mechanical engineering graduate; sophomore general studies major Josh Meeh, and soon-to-be-freshman Elizabeth Bolner, who is to study food science and technology.

7.04 Bob J. Surovik '58, BBA in accounting, graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1961. He is now President of McMahon, Surovik, Suttle, Buhrmann, Hicks, Gill & Cannon, PC and has served six years on The Association of Former Students' Board of Directors, having served as president in 2001. He also served on Texas A&M's Vision 2020 Task Force.

5.05 Douglas G. Hotchkiss, CIC, CPA '63, BBA in accounting, president of Hotchkiss Insurance Agency, Inc. in Dallas, is one of six Aggie members of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas board of directors for 2005.

11.05 Frank Muller ’65, MBA in management, was recently honored as Outstanding Houston Aggie by the Houston A&M Club. This prestigious honor salutes former students who exemplify the Aggie Spirit with their time, passion, talents and contributions.

9.04 James B. "Nardie" Vine Jr. '66, BBA in management, was elected as the 2004 chairman of the National Appraisal Board, reports the Texas Aggie magazine. The Appraisal Foundation is an organization authorized by the U. S. Congress to set the generally accepted standards for the appraisal profession nationwide as well as minimum qualification criteria for real property appraisers. Vine specializes in the valuation of rural and special purpose agribusiness properties and is currently the president of Vine and Associates in San Antonio.

11.05 Jon Booker ’67, BBA in accounting, says “I am a professor of accounting at Tennessee Technological University and just received the Tennessee Society of CPAs Lifetime Achievement Award.” jonbooker@tntech.edu

5.05 Jim Berger '68, BBA in finance, former president of the board and current president of Insurance Alliance in Houston, is one of six Aggie members of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas board of directors for 2005.

7.05 Richard C. (Charlie) Eads '69, BBA in management, was named Oregon Broadcaster of the Year by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters. Eads has been the owner and general manager of Mid-Valley radio stations KGAL and KSHO since the purchase of KGAL by Eads Broadcasting Corporation in 1981. He began his career in broadcasting in Oregon in 1976 and was the owner of the station 102.3 FM. He was also co-owner of a radio station in Portland for two years.

7.04 Frank "Marty" Jamieson '70, BBA in finance and management, MBA in finance, is the treasurer and chief financial officer of Hitachi Computer Products American Division in Norman, Oklahoma. He is an accounting board member for the University of Oklahoma Price Business School and a past president of Financial Executives International, Oklahoma City Chapter. <fjamieson@cox.net>

9.05 Jerry S. Cox ’72, BBA in finance, is a 2005 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon a Texas A&M University former student. It recognizes only students who have made significant contributions to society and whose actions uphold the legacy of leadership excellence valued by A&M. Cox founded Cox & Perkins Exploration, Inc. in 1977 and, while serving as president and chairman, he has gained a reputation among the oil and gas industry as an astute and honest investor and businessman. He is a past president of the 12th Man Foundation and a trustee of the Texas A&M Foundation.

9.05 Judge Willie E. B. Blackmon ’73, BBA in marketing, is a 2005 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon a Texas A&M University former student. It recognizes only students who have made significant contributions to society and whose actions uphold the legacy of leadership excellence valued by A&M. Blackmon served the U.S. Air Force as a military attorney for 20 years. In 2004, he was honorably discharged from the Texas Air National Guard at the rank of lieutenant colonel. Upon completion of active duty, Blackmon was an assistant district attorney in Lubbock and Houston. He has served as a co-founding member of the Texas A&M Letterman’s Association, a member of the College of Education and Human Development Advisory Council and the Corps of Cadet Development Council.

7.05 Ted Paup '74, BBA in finance, has joined TexasBank as vice president and senior investment officer. Paup is a CPA and financial planner with extensive farm, ranch, oil and gas experience.

9.04 Stuart M. Scarborough '75, BBA in management, is currently an area landman for Citation Oil & Gas Corp. in Houston, Texas. He handles all land-related matters in Texas and Oklahoma. <sscarborough@cogc.com>

7.04 Charles A. "Chuck" Ellison '76, BBA in finance, graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law in 1979 and spent four years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. Ellison currently practices law in his own firm, Charles A. Ellison, PC, and serves on The Texas A&M University System's Chancellor's Century Council.

7.04 Beverly Hawks McMillen '76, BBA in accounting, received her CPA from the University of Texas in 1980. She held various accounting positions in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut until her retirement from Connecticut College.

7.04 Monty Davis '77, BBA in accounting, is senior vice president and chief operating officer for Core Laboratories NV in Houston, Texas. <monty.davis@corelab.com>

11.05 Steven Moore ’79, BBA in marketing and MBA in finance, was named chief marketing officer and vice president of communications at Texas A&M University. In this new position, Moore has campus-wide oversight of all marketing, media relations, publications, internal communications, brand architecture and content for top-level Web sites and other digital communications, media, market research, positioning and branding efforts. Moore most recently served as senior vice president at IMG, the world’s largest sports marketing company, and has also occupied various executive positions within The Coca-Cola Company.

5.05 Doug Dunlap, Jr., CIC, CPA '79, BBA in accounting, is chief financial officer of Catto & Catto, LLP in San Antonio and is one of six Aggie members of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas board of directors for 2005.

5.05 Michael Knapek '79, BBA in accounting, a partner in the real estate section of Texas-based law firm Jackson Walker LLP's Dallas office, was named a 2004 Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly magazine. Super lawyers are the top 5 percent of attorneys in the state, as chosen by their peers.

9.04 Thomas "Tom" Gray '79, MS in accounting, was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry '72 as chief justice of the Tenth Court of Appeals District in Waco, according to the Texas Aggie magazine.

7.04 Troy Robinson '79, BBA in finance, is the president of First National Bank in Quitman, Texas, where he has served for 22 years. <robinson@lcii.net>

9.05 Pete Greaves ’80, MS in finance, competed in the 109th Boston Marathon held on April 18, 2005. The marathon hosted about 20,000 participants for the 26 mile-long race from Hopkinton, Massachusetts to Boston.

5.05 Scott Burton '80, BBA in accounting, president of Benchmark Insurance Group, Inc. in San Marcos, is one of six Aggie members of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas board of directors for 2005.

9.04 G. Steven Dawson '80, BBA in accounting, writes that he "retired in 2003, 10 years after creating a successful NYSE-traded real estate investment trust. Today, I serve on the boards of five public REIT's and one private company. My oldest son is now a student at the Mays School...hopefully, the others will follow." <sdawson@dawsoninterests.com>

9.04 Pauletta (Brown) Blueitt '81, BBA in management, recently earned a landmark military honor when she became the first African-American female to achieve the rank of colonel in the Air Force Medical Service Corps, according to the Texas Aggie magazine. She currently serves in the U. S. Army Reserves and is a class agent for the Class of '81.

9.04 Samuel Freund '81 started with Merrill Lynch in 1987 as a financial consultant in the Corpus Christi office and then transferred to the downtown Austin office. He has a series 7, 63, 65 and life license. He left to work for Farm Bureau in '99 and finished his local recording license to sell property and causality insurance along with securities, annuities and life insurance. In 2004, he joined The Bryan-College Station Eagle newspaper as the marketing consultant and enrolled at Mays Business School to work on an MS in marketing.

7.04 Jim Hayes '81, BBA in marketing, MBA in business administration, is the associate director of succession planning for SBC Communications, Inc. and is the author of "The Joys of Unemployment." Hayes completed his first triathlon in May 2004. <jimhayes99@sbcglobal.net>

5.05 Mike Albrecht '82, BBA in marketing, helped to design the Silestone quartz countertops “I am Diana Pearl” commercial that aired during Superbowl 2005 in February. The commercial featured Chicago Bears legends Mike Ditka, William “Refrigerator” Perry and Jim McMahon as well as NBA star Dennis Rodman. 9.04 Paige Booth '84, BBA in marketing, is vice president of marketing at St. Edward's University in Austin. Booth says, she "came to this position after 15 years of marketing and advertising work in the corporate sector. I am married to a Texas Ex and have a 6-year-old son."

7.05 Cmdr. Mark Ghirardi '84, BBA in business analysis, currently serves as a port commander working with the Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Force Forward Bravo in Kuwait.

11.05 Lt. Col. Drew DeHaes ’86, BBA in business analysis, says, “I am the operations group commander of the 132 Fighter Wing, Iowa Air National Guard, based in Des Moines, Ia. We just spent 60 days flying missions over Iraq in support of Army and Marines.”

5.05 Alicia Duleba '89, BBA, an associate in the labor and litigation sections of the Texas-based law firm Jackson Walker LLP's Dallas office, was honored by the Austin Business Journal as a 2004 Rising Star. The 25 chosen rising stars are up-and-coming employees who bring vitality, originality and dedication to their work.

11.05 Sheri Meyer ’95, BBA in finance, was recently honored by the Leading Women Express Network of the American Business Women’s Association. She was named the 2005 Network Woman of the Year for her contributions and achievements in business.

7.05 Lt. Jeff Minch '95, BBA in accounting, currently serves as a vessel watch officer working with the Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Force Forward Bravo in Kuwait.

7.05 Harold Mitchell, Jr. ‘'95, BBA in business analysis, is currently an instructor of computer science at Morehouse College in Atlanta. His current research addresses how IT will benefit life sciences in the coming years through such avenues as biomedical informatics.

The consulting practice that I'm working in was sold to IBM so I'm now under 'Big Blue' working in Houston, Texas. I do remote support and development for a number of clients in all several different industries. 7.04 Scott Towle '00, BBA in information and operations management, MBA in management information systems, was invited to join Texas 4000, a group of UT students cycling from Austin to Alaska to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Scott says, "We hope to donate $150,000 to ACS. Each rider is responsible for raising $3,000. The trip is slightly over 4,500 miles and will take a little over 2 months. During our ride, on our days off, we will be volunteering at cancer hospitals, doing community service work, and we will be doing cancer awareness presentations." <vetteobsession@hotmail.com>

9.04 Jessica Walas '04, BBA in marketing, says she has "just started my first job after graduating from college in May. I am a product marketing analyst for Travelocity in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It took me about five months (January to May) of applying for different positions with Travelocity and their parent company, Sabre, before I was contacted about this position. Now, I know that it was definitely worth the wait!"
