“200 individuals representing these companies took the opportunity to interact with more than 1,200 current students."

Aggie 100 takes flightVibrant business schools sponsor meaningful activities and events, and Mays is no exception. However, one very special event sponsored by our Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship has taken flight…the Aggie 100. It is at this event that we honor the 100 fastest-growing companies owned or operated by Texas A&M graduates. A unique feature of this honor is that the recipients are asked to join us and bring their stories and lessons learned into our classrooms and meeting rooms through their interaction with students and student organizations. As with any event of this type, there are several striking numbers: a growth rate of 537 percent for the leading company (GEODynamics, led by David Wesson), an average growth rate of 52 percent for all 100 members of this years’ group, cumulative revenues of over $5 billion, and a cumulative number of employees at 20,000. However, the most significant numbers are these: 200 individuals representing these companies took the opportunity to interact with more than 1,200 current students. I am confident that many of these current students will return to campus in the near future as recipients of the Aggie 100 award. I hope this issue of Mays Business Online finds you well and that you will keep in touch. Please drop by for a visit when your travels bring you to College Station. Best regards, Jerry Strawser '83 |
