5.06 Alan Soefje ’54, BBA in business, has been selected the 2005 recipient of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge’s Spirit of ’76 Patriot of the Year Award. He receives this honor for his service to the San Antonio Chapter of the foundation and to the community.

Wink is a partner at Haynes and Boone LLP, an international corporate law firm. 12.06 Barbara (Brunner) Pereira ’84, BBA accounting and master’s in land economics and real estate, has been named to start and lead CB Richard Ellis’ (CBRE’s) commercial real estate financing and mortgage brokerage business in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Pereira and her family will be relocating to the Madrid during 2007. CBRE is the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm, and the only firm in this industry to be named to the Fortune 500. 5.06 Danny Pickett ’85, a CPA-turned artist, has relocated his studio from Longmont, Colorado, to Galveston, Texas. Zaruba ’86, BBA in accounting, is vice president of accounting and finance for Hydro Gulf of Mexico, LLC in Houston. Zaruba is also a 12-year member of the Century Club. 7.06 Greg Cohen ’86 now serves as the performance measurement lead for the largest acquisition program in Coast Guard history, the Deepwater Program. He also serves as the project manager for the Program Enterprise Business Intelligence system, which recently won the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Award. 9.06 Bradford “Brad” P. Harwick ’86, BBA in marketing, joined Austin-based Bury + Partners, Inc., as the senior director of marketing. Harwick has 12 years management experience in marketing and strategic planning, most recently as the marketing and business development manager at Vinson & Elkins LLP. 3.06 Marty Holmes ’87, BA in marketing, gave a presentation entitled, “The Association of Former Students: Strengthening the International Aggie Network” at the Central America Aggie Summit on Feb. 16-18, 2006, in El Salvador. 7.06Cyrill Eltschinger ’89, BBA in finance, helped A&M land the newly inaugurated MBA exchange program between China’s premier MBA school, Tsinghua, and Mays Business School. Originally from Switzerland, Eltschinger attended A&M, joining the Coprs of Cadets as a freshman, after graduating from College St. Michael with degrees in Latin and Greek. Eltschinger, who started I.T. United, a China-based outsourcing service, also helped start the China A&M Club. 01.07 Robert J. Michlewicz, Jr. ’90, BBA in marketing, has been named president of Bowne & Co. Inc.’s southern region. Michlewicz will preside over 12 major markets including Dallas, Houston, Denver and Atlanta. 01.07 Kelly Parr ’90, BBA in accounting, was recognized as the Young CPA of the Year in Texas for 2005-2006 by the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Recipient requirements include being 39 years of age or younger, and having made significant contributions to the accounting profession and the community. 01.07 Scott Carter ’92, BBA in accounting, earned his M.D. and is now in the Department of Radiology at Eastern Virginia medical center. He will soon return to Texas in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center, the second largest radiology department in the world. There, he’ll be following the progress of thousands of cancer patients and performing interventional procedures. 01.07 Lynda Ruffino ’92, BBA in marketing, took second place at the Tinker Air Force Base XIV Annual Triathlon in the Women’s Open division. 01.07 Jeffrey Vincent ’93, BBA in accounting, has been named senior commercial relationship manager and senior vice president for Regions Bank in Fort Worth. 7.06 Johanna Christiansen ’94, BBA in management and master’s in land economics and real estate, has been promoted to a senior vice president in commercial real estate banking at Bank of America in Universal City, Texas. She has been with the bank since 1997. 11.06 Matthew Mahone ’98, master’s in real estate ’01, joined RBC Capital Markets’ Real Estate Mortgage Captial division as vice president for Southwest Originations in October 2006. In his new position, Mahone is responsible for originating and analyzing commercial mortgage-backed securties loans on a broad range of income-producing property types for loan securitization throughout Texas. Mahone was previously a loan orginator for JP Morgan throughout the southwest. He also spent several years working with Deloitte & Touche’s financial advisory services division, focusing on real estate consulting. 5.06 Capt. Jonathan Ballard ’99, BBA in information and operations management, was deployed in December 2004 with the 56th BCT out of the Texas National Guard in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and has completed his tour. He arrived back in Fort Hood on Dec. 9, 2005. 7.06 Thadd Hargett ’99, BBA in marketing, was named director of annual giving by Texas A&M’s Association of Former Students. Thadd, a second generation Aggie, previously served as coordinator of annual giving. 10.06 Steve Olshewsky ’03, an accounting PhD graduate, joined the faculty of Temple University in Philadelphia. He says his Aggie education “ is regarded as an asset by administrators and colleagues here.” 3.06 Mary Speckmaier ’03, BBA accounting, reports that she has been working for the past two years in Cameroon, Africa, volunteering with a missions organization as an accountant. “I have had a wonderful time here and have learned so much from my colleagues, who are from all over the world,” she writes. mary_speckmaier@sil.org 10.06 Mary Kay Brammer ’05, an Executive MBA graduate, assumed the role of vice president for finance at PrimeWay Federal Credit Union after earning her EMBA degree and was recently promoted to chief financial officer.
