In 2003, the graduating class of MBAs at Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School made an ambitious commitment. Despite the fact that they hadn’t yet received their first post-graduation paycheck, they pledged to give $75,000 to create a scholarship endowment for future A&M MBA students.
The future is uncertain, but one thing Kathie and Scott Amann ’78 know is that they want their support of Mays Business School to continue long after they’re gone. That’s why they’ve recently included Mays in their estate with a gift of $500,000 for scholarships.
As the first person in his family to attend college, Ray Garcia ’90 has a deep appreciation for his education and the professional success that it has enabled. Today, as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Garcia says he wants to give others the same shot at success: he has recently partnered with his firm to establish the Lisa and Ray Garcia ’90/PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship in Accounting with a $25,000 gift to Mays Business School.
Susan (Ernst)’86 and John McNamara ’86 found more than just an education that led to a great career in their accounting classes at Texas A&M University, they also found true love: the couple became acquainted when they were assigned to sit next to each other in Accounting 427.
Mays Business School at Texas A&M University has received a $9 million planned gift from a generous former student who wishes to remain anonymous. When realized, these funds will provide hundreds of undergraduate scholarships for business students.
As an alumnus, an accounting professional, and a longtime A&M recruiter for his firm, Billy M. Atkinson, Jr. ’72 has a unique perspective on Mays. He says he continues to be amazed at the improvements he’s seen in the school and specifically the accounting program since his years as a student.
Stephen Parker ’88 says that it was the generosity of other Aggies that helped him be successful during his years at A&M. Now, as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he is thrilled to have the opportunity to join with his firm to impact the current generation of Aggies.
Continuing a tradition of support for Mays Business School, PricewaterhouseCoopers has recently announced a new gift of $150,000 for scholarships in the accounting department at Mays. The gift is given in honor of longtime PwC partner Billy M. Atkinson, Jr. ’72.
L.C. “Chaz” Neely ’62 credits his A&M education with much of his success over the past three decades. For that reason, Neely and his wife, Trisha, have continued their ongoing support to Mays Business School with a recent gift of $500,000, which will establish an endowed scholarship fund for Business Honors students.
Bill R. Brooks ’54 has recently given $50,000 to Mays Business School to establish the Mr. and Mrs. Bill R. Brooks ’54 Dean’s Endowed Scholarship.
