Mays student receives top award at graduation

Andrew Spencer Welch of Round Rock, Texas, was one of three graduates singled out for special honor at Texas A&M University’s spring commencement. Welch was presented with the Robert Gates-Muller Family Outstanding Student Award, which recognizes an outstanding graduating senior at A&M.

Gilbert reappointed to statewide advisory board

Brett Anitra Gilbert, professor of management at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, has been reappointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Emerging Technology Fund advisory committee.

This August, sixteen men and women injured as a result of military service in Iraq and Afghanistan since September 11, 2001, came to Mays Business School to participate in the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), which offered wounded warriors with vision and determination the tools needed to be able to make their businesses a success.



Berry honored by university

There was a priceless expression of surprise on his face when Mays Business School Distinguished Professor of marketing Leonard Berry turned away from his students to find Elsa Murano, president of Texas A&M University, had entered his classroom. President Murano interrupted Berry’s lecture to present the speechless instructor with one of the university’s highest recognitions, the Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence award.
