Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans changes lives at Mays

An innovative course on entrepreneurship specially designed for disabled veterans wounded since 2001 and made possible by generous donors made an impact on 14 would-be business owners. This is the second year that the program was offered at Mays, one of a five-school national consortium.

A new adventure is at hand for veterans disabled in the line of service since 9/11 as they have the chance to go through a different kind of bootcamp—one focused on entrepreneurship. Mays is again offering the national program Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans, an intense program that teaches disabled American soldiers how to start up and operate a small business.

This August, sixteen men and women injured as a result of military service in Iraq and Afghanistan since September 11, 2001, came to Mays Business School to participate in the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV), which offered wounded warriors with vision and determination the tools needed to be able to make their businesses a success.

I am proud of Mays Business School. I love to tell people that I am associated with this great school, with it’s top-notch students, faculty, and programs. I was privileged recently to take a trip to New York City to represent our fine school and while I was there, I was able to spend some time with Mays students participating in the Aggies on Wall Street program.

Mays Business School at Texas A&M University one of four schools in the nation to offer the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans, an innovative program that teaches small business ownership and operation concepts to post-9/11 veterans. The program, offered free to all participants, will kick off this summer on the A&M campus.

Recently, Mays Interim Dean Ricky Griffin spoke with a reporter from BusinessWeek about this important new program.



Mays joins consortium to support veterans with disabilities

Mays Business School at Texas A&M University is joining a consortium led by Syracuse University in a new program designed to assist veterans with disabilities. Called Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EVB), this program will offer training in small business start-up and management to service men and women injured in the line of duty since 2001.
