Students help ease the stress of tax season
By Chrystal Houston • March 4th, 2009 • Category: Departments, Featured Stories, StudentsAs part of an accounting course being offered for the first time at Mays, twelve students are learning about federal income tax legislation, its impact on low-income filers, and the socio-economic forces at work. Learning takes place in the classroom, but the majority of the content is mastered through community service: each student is required to volunteer and help lower-income residents file their taxes.
