For the second year, Mays Business School at Texas A&M University has been recognized by Mexico’s acclaimed business magazine Expansión in their Best MBAs for Mexicans line up. In the 2009 ranking, Mays’ full-time MBA program was listed at 40th out of the 60 schools, moving up from last year’s 43rd spot.

“Our rise in this ranking directly reflects our impact on a global level,” said Kelli Kilpatrick, director of the program. “The Texas A&M MBA program is experiencing an upward trajectory because of the high quality students we are able to attract and the top-notch faculty that facilitate their learning. The program is, no doubt, developing future leaders poised for management in a global world.”

The numbers included the top 60 business schools worldwide, displaying detailed statistics for each program and the industries where students typically end up working. The rankings are calculated based on the following factors:

  • Academic quality as assessed by students’ average GMAT score (Mays’ average GMAT score increased by 20 points from 2007 to 2008)
  • Previous rankings by London’s Financial Times (Mays was ranked 61st globally in 2008)
  • Average MBA salary after graduation
  • Percent of international students in the program
  • Number of countries represented in the program

Several other Texas schools made the 2009 list. Rice University and the University of Texas improved their ranks as well, tying for the 26th spot on the list. Southern Methodist University joined the list of Texas schools in 2009, coming in at number 50.
